It was a rainy Sunday, but after our 20 days out of state, we were itching to get back on the trails here in NC. We had not been on this trail before and thought we would check it out. The trailhead is located not too far from Neel Gap and would make a nice spot for a picnic lunch. I would repeat this trail again in better weather as there are some nice photo spots along the trail.
Everything having to do with the Epic Road Trip will be blogged on the "Travel Blog"
We will return to posting here when we head back out to our local trails... AT baby.
Grabbed the bike and drove over to Cades Cove to scout out some potential hiking trails for weekend ventures. We had a great time but to really appreciate Cades Cove one would need to stay there fro a few days because there is just so much to see. We will be going back soon.
Well we thought it was a good idea. Take the parents on a hike. Share with them what we are so excited about. Show them some of the beauty we see everytime we head to the trails. We chose what has been characterized by other hikers as the BABY TRAIL. So we set off for a day of hiking and nature. First stop was Mountain Crossing @ Neel's Gap. Next stop was Helton Creek Falls. Finally the actual hike at Vogel State Park... Bear Hair Gap Trail.
We decided to get away for a few days and Easter Weekend seemed like a good time. We hit the A.T. for some hiking and camping. We did cut our trip short by about a day because we stumbled upon a starving dog. Her pictures are on Bear Snacks page. Great hike. We learned alot. Each of these trips are teaching us more and more on what we desire out of our gear and what we can do without. Rain, sleet, snow, or hail... nothing can get us off the trail.
Stopped in to do a little shopping and check out the view. Beautiful terrace area.
My BFF convinced me to put down the nursing books today and go for a drive. Amanda says... I saw a sign that said "Hiker Resupply"... that is all I needed to hear. Off we went. All I can say is, YOU ROCK! When you said on your website you were AT before AT was cool... well no false advertising there.
Who else would set up a satellite shop, no conditioned air (hot or cold) , 7 days a week for 2 months, and locate it approximately 40 miles from home base... I'll tell you who...
Three Eagles Outfitters.
Everything you need to resupply. Amanda bought a few things for herself. Jim helped Amanda with her purchase and we were pleased and shocked with the large variety offered in the satellite location. I'm actually jealous... Amanda got a GO GIRL... Did you hear that Shrek? Pout Pout

Fiona here... I have always enjoyed the Coosa Backcountry Trail. It never seems to matter how many times we hike it, it always seems different. We tend to pop on and off side trails too, so that makes a difference. We chose the clockwise drection of the loop because we wanted to hit our favorite camping spot. Our "spot" did not fail to please, AGAIN. Such a pretty area near a stream with numerous falls. The sound of the water is so relaxing although it does make it difficult to do any filming. We camped Saturday, explored and wrapped up the hike on St. Patty's Day. Overall, great weekend with my awesome hubby.
