Panthertown Valley... should be called Land of the Waterfalls. Panthertown Valley is a system of trails in the Nantahala National Forest near Cashiers, NC. The 30 miles of trails lead to 7 noteworthy waterfalls and 5-6 more smaller slides. We did get the pleasure of seeing 6 of the 7 larger falls.
Day 1 ~ We arrived close to noon at the trail head parking at Cold Mountain. We began hiking in and came across Schoolhouse Falls fairly quickly. We set up camp and waited out a passing shower then slack-packed to Riding Ford Falls.

Day 2 ~ Started out from Schoolhouse Falls and did some exploring. Found another campsite, this one on a sandy beach, that we agreed to use when we came back. As we had a general idea of the area we wanted to camp tonight, we moved on. We found a beautiful site not far from Granny Burrell Falls, set up, and slack packed off to Granny Falls, Frolictown Falls, and Wilderness Falls. On the return trip there was another afternoon rainstorm which cut any further exploring for the day.
Day 3 ~ Leaving our campsite near Granny Burrell Falls we headed in the direction of Greenland Creek and Mac Falls. Greenland Creek Falls was by far the most beautiful and remote of the falls. We spent a good portion of the day there exploring and climbing the falls and surrounding area. Headed towards Mac Falls, which we never found. We were back to the car and off towards home by 3pm.
