|Peace Love Hike|
Off to do the Mist Trail today. Thought it would be nice to head that route and begin the actual hike in the morning doing the JMT proper. So I set off for the hike to the top of Nevada Fall. YEAH RIGHT! Me and a trillion other yahoos. As I ascended on wards and upwards my patience was stretched thinner and thinner. I encountered people with no manners, no common decency, and no common sense. I saw this beautiful park being littered upon. I watched kids running wild in areas of danger. I saw parents with little to no control of their children. I was so disgusted by the time I got to the top of Vernal Fall that I knew I would not be able to hold my tongue much longer. As I passed a family of four, death march a crying toddler to the top of the falls...it was time for me to head back down. TOO MANY FREAKIN' PEOPLE.
On my return trip I viewed a teen-aged boy look around to see if anyone was watching him as he attempted to throw his plastic water bottle on the ground. He noticed me looking at him and decided to hold on to it. As they walked in front of me, he attempted a few more times each time noticing me. Doing my part of Leave No Trace and praying i could keep my mouth shut... I followed this family to the bottom. They stopped, I stopped. They walked, I walked. It was the most amusing site. I looked like a stalker but could have cared less. One less person to soil up such a stunning place.
After leaving Happy Isles I headed over to the museum and cemetery. Very interesting and the movie "The Spirit of Yosemite" was absolutely worth the 20 minute run time.
Off to Curry Village for a last shower and off to sleep for the start of the BIG DAY! Hike starts in the AM... Excited.
