Resupply Planning

With 140 days left until I leave from North Carolina, bound for California, I have completed a bit more of my planning. I believe that I have my resupply points worked out. I have 4 resupply points along the trail and a 5th at the trail head. I am having one package mailed out to Yosemite Valley so that I do not have to carry my first 5 days worth of meals across country. I do get asked often why I am mailing 4 others ahead. Well the simple truth is I do not want to carry more than 6 days of food. At roughly 2 pounds per day, that brings my pack weight up to the maximum in the comfort level zone.

Additionally, I have my menu set. A hot breakfast with a hot beverage to start the day. A cold, carb-packed lunch, 3 snacks, and a hot dinner with a hot beverage. I will be carrying 5 days worth of food between resupply points, so that comes to approximately 10 pounds of food. AND I was able to plan it so that there are no repeat meals in the 5 day period.

What's next? Finish my JMT specific gear shopping. . .
