Big Creek Trail & Campsite #37
Beginning in the Big Creek parking lot which has tons of traffic for day use, we found it difficult to get parking due to the high volume of visitors using the area for various reasons. The trailhead is clearly marked and HIGHLY traveled. The trail itself is wide, due to being an old railroad bed for the Crestmont Logging Company in the early 1900's. It maintains this width for about the first 5 miles. Now you may be thinking, why so much time for an overnight loop? Two reasons: 1) Fiona is far too curious AND 2) Fiona is slow. Anyhow, we encounter Midnight Hole and Mouse Creek Falls within the first two miles. This is also were your day visitors are located. After mile 2, we did not see anyone else until we reached Backcountry Campsite #37. This trail up to the 1st carriage bridge is the perfect setting for day trips. I highly recommend. This section is a real stunner.
