|Peace Love Hike|
The John Muir Trail is a long distance hiking trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is officially 210.4 miles in length and is named for the naturalist John Muir. With the exception of 9 miles of trail, the remainder is above 8,000 feet with its highest point being the southern terminus on the summit of Mt. Whitney, which is 14,505 feet above sea level.
Excitement is building . . .
As January fades away and February is set to takes it place, my excitement continues to grow. Five more months to prepare for my journey. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to follow my dreams and lucky to have a husband that supports them. Apprehension is not in actually doing this, but doing it without failing. I am doing this because it is part of my overall dream to hike all the major trails, but also to prove to myself that I can do this alone. To walk into the wilderness without my husband physically by my side and to walk out the other end, having conquered that wilderness. Now, if I could just lock in my permit... so much easier to plan with definitive dates.
